The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program provides funding to the very best postdoctoral applicants, both nationally and internationally, who will positively contribute to Canada's economic, social, and research-based growth. The program aims to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent, develop their leadership potential, and position them for success as future research leaders. The fellowship is valued at $70,000 per year for two years and is non-renewable.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, or foreign citizens.
  • Fulfill or have fulfilled all degree requirements for a PhD, PhD-equivalent, or health professional degree between September 15, 2021, and September 30, 2025 (inclusive), and before the start date of their award.
  • Not hold a tenure-track or tenured faculty position, nor be on leave from such a position.
  • Not currently hold or have held a CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC postdoctoral fellowship unless the term ends before September 30, 2025.
