The Bernard S. and Sophie G. Gould MIT Summer Research Program in Biology (BSG-MSRP-Bio) provides a transformative 10-week summer research experience for undergraduate students. Hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), this program is designed to foster diversity and inclusion in STEM by encouraging applications from students underrepresented in the sciences. Participants engage in hands-on research in state-of-the-art laboratories, working on independent projects in areas such as molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry. Beyond lab work, the program offers professional development workshops, community-building activities, and networking opportunities with leading researchers and peers.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Full-time undergraduate students at a U.S. university or college
  • Current sophomores, juniors, or non-graduating seniors
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 in all STEM courses
  • Prior research experience is required. Students with no prior research experience are not eligible. At least one letter of reference must be from a research mentor or lab supervisor.
  • Must be available to begin the program in the first week of June
