Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program (CCSEP)
The Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program (CCSEP) offers short-term scholarships to Canadians wishing to pursue post-secondary studies, research, or Chinese language training at institutions in China. Established in 1973, the program is a collaborative effort between Global Affairs Canada and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. The program aims to enhance mutual understanding and academic collaboration between Canada and China. Over the past 50 years, more than 1,100 scholars have participated in the program.
For the 2026–2027 competition, applicants apply on the My EduCanada portal by January 12, 2026, then complete a CSC portal application by March 1, 2026.
Eligibility Requirements
- To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be Canadian citizens.
- Be one of the following:
- Full-time teaching or research staff at a post-secondary or research institution in Canada.
- A student enrolled in a college, undergraduate, or graduate program at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada.
- A mid-career professional from a Canadian government, media, or cultural organization, or a national education association, with a graduate (Master's or doctoral) degree and at least three years of managerial, policy development, or decision-making responsibilities.
- Have achieved the required level of written and spoken Chinese by the host institution in China, if applicable (HSK level 3 for undergraduate studies and HSK level 4 for graduate studies).
- Pursue an exchange in China at eligible institutions and programs marked by an asterisk (*) on the Campus China website.
- Not be seeking a degree in China.
- Be under 45 years of age if applying under the “General Scholar” category of the China Scholarship Council (CSC).
- Be under 50 years of age if applying under the 'Senior Scholar' category of the CSC.
