Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute Summer Scholars Program (CRISSP)
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Research Institute Summer Scholars Program (CRISSP) is a 10-week internship designed to inspire undergraduate students to pursue careers in pediatric research and academic medicine. Participants receive training in theoretical knowledge and research, along with critical exposure to pediatric-focused career trajectories under the direct mentorship of CHOP faculty.
CRISSP provides a transformational summer experience by inspiring students to explore, create, discover, and innovate in areas related to child health and wellness. The program includes a full-time immersion in a lab or research group, allowing interns to experience science and discovery firsthand. Participants complete an independent research project and present a poster at the conclusion of the program. Opportunities are available in basic/translational, clinical, and behavioral research teams. In addition to the research experience, the program offers professional development opportunities, including formal training sessions, career panel discussions, and mentoring sessions.
