Cincinnati Children Hospital Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship
The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center offers undergraduate students a comprehensive opportunity to engage in clinical, translational, and basic science research within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. This 10-week program is designed to provide hands-on laboratory experience, mentorship, and professional development, aiming to prepare participants for careers in biomedical sciences or medicine. Participants will work full-time (40 hours per week) in person, earning a salary of $13 per hour. The program includes research-oriented training courses, seminars, journal clubs, career days, and a research poster competition. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with over 700 faculty members engaged in diverse areas of pediatric medicine, including developmental biology, genetic diseases, cancer, cardiology, neurology, and immunology.
Eligibility Requirements
- Academic Standing: Undergraduate students who will be freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors in the Fall of 2025, maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Citizenship: U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or green card holders.
- Interest: Demonstrated interest in a career in biomedical research or medicine.
- International Students: Those residing in Cincinnati and attending a Cincinnati-based university/college may be eligible if they hold an F-1 visa and can obtain Curricular Practical Training (CPT) work authorization through their institution.
