The Diversity Summer Health-Related Research Education Program (DSHREP) at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is an intensive summer research opportunity designed for undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds. This program aims to foster interest in health-related professions and biomedical research through mentorship, hands-on research projects, and professional development activities.

Participants engage in 10 weeks of research training under the guidance of MCW faculty. The program includes workshops on research ethics, graduate and medical school preparation, and networking with healthcare professionals. A final poster presentation allows participants to showcase their research findings. Students receive a stipend for their participation, and housing is provided for out-of-state students.

Eligibility Requirements

  • 3.4 Undergraduate Science and Math GPA Required
  • Completion of at least one year of college (three courses per academic term)
  • Open to students at all undergraduate institutions
  • Underrepresented minority students intesrested in biomedical sciences, healthcare, or related fields.
