Duke Summer Scholars Program in Genome Sciences & Medicine
The Genome Sciences & Medicine Summer Scholars Program at Duke University is a 10-week summer research experience designed to provide underrepresented minority (URM) students with hands-on training in genome sciences and medicine. This program is intended to help students gain the experience, knowledge, and skills necessary to pursue and succeed in STEM fields. Participants work on individual research projects under the mentorship of Duke faculty members, gaining exposure to laboratory techniques, research methodologies, and the interdisciplinary nature of genome sciences.
For this program:

0‑week full‑time mentored research in genome sciences & medicine.

Target: 1st/2nd‑year, underrepresented STEM students.

NIH/NHGRI R25‑funded; room, board, and stipend (~$4.8–5k).

Activities: lab research, lectures, ELSI discussions, RTP visits, final presentations.
Eligibility Requirements
- Open to full-time first- and second-year undergraduate students from underrepresented minority groups in STEM.
- Must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
