Icahn Summer Undergraduate Research Program for Underrepresented Scholars
The Summer Undergraduate Research Program for Underrepresented Scholars (SURP4US) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is a ten-week program designed to provide hands-on research experience to undergraduate students from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups. The program aims to prepare students for competitive PhD and MD/PhD programs by offering intensive research training, professional development workshops, and mentorship from leading scientists. Participants engage in supervised research projects, attend seminars, and have the opportunity to present their work at a poster session.
Eligibility Requirements
- Self-identify as a member of a group underrepresented in graduate programs in biomedical sciences
- Currently enrolled undergraduate student of sophomore or junior standing
- Strong background in science, a passion for research, and a desire to pursue it professionally in a biomedical PhD or MD/PhD program
