Oxford Statistics Summer Research Internships
The Statistics Summer Research Internships at the University of Oxford offer undergraduate students the opportunity to experience graduate-level research. This program is designed to introduce students to advanced research techniques and methodologies, enhancing their skills and confidence in a real-world research environment. The internships last for 7-8 weeks during the summer and involve working on a research project under the supervision of academic staff from the Department of Statistics. Interns gain hands-on experience, develop new skills, and receive guidance on potential postgraduate studies.
“An 8‑week summer research internship in the Department of Statistics at the University of Oxford, running through July and August 2026. Interns undertake supervised research projects with faculty, doctoral students, and postdocs, gaining experience of statistical research, building technical and transferable skills, and strengthening their preparation for postgraduate study. A bursary and college accommodation are provided for the full internship. The programme also supports efforts to improve representation within statistics as a discipline.”

Eligibility Requirements
- be ordinarily resident in the UK without any restrictions on how long they can stay. UK residence should not have been wholly or mainly for the purpose of receiving full-time education
- be currently undertaking an undergraduate (including an integrated master’s) degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a closely related subject, and be in at least the second year of a course at a UK or Irish university
- be on track to achieve a final undergraduate degree grade of a strong 2:1 or First.
