The Chemers Neustein Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program at The Rockefeller University offers a unique opportunity for college sophomores and juniors majoring in the life or physical sciences to engage in laboratory research. Participants are matched with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, or graduate students who mentor them in individualized summer projects.

SURF provides undergraduate students with hands-on research experience in various scientific disciplines, including biochemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, immunology, neuroscience, and more. The program includes weekly journal clubs, a special lecture series, and culminates in a poster session where students present their research findings.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be college sophomores or juniors at the time of application.
