The Simons Summer Research Program (SimonsSRP) at Stony Brook University is a highly selective, national summer research program designed for academically talented and motivated high school juniors. Participants engage in hands-on research in science, math, or engineering alongside distinguished faculty mentors. Students learn laboratory techniques, utilize advanced tools, integrate into active research teams, and gain an immersive experience of university-level research life. The program runs for six weeks from June 29 to August 7, 2026, requiring a minimum commitment of 4 hours per day, with flexibility agreed upon with mentors.

Admission is extremely competitive, with less than 5% acceptance rate. Students select top three preferred mentors and research areas during application, and may undergo additional interviews for lab placement. The program emphasizes original research contributions, professional development, and exposure to cutting-edge projects at a top research institution. No prior research experience is required, making it accessible yet challenging for promising young scientists.
