The University of Connecticut (UConn) Undergraduate Summer Research Internship Program in Biological and Biomedical Sciences offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in various fields of biological and biomedical sciences. The program aims to foster scientific curiosity and prepare students for advanced studies or careers in these disciplines. Participants will work closely with UConn faculty members on cutting-edge research projects, attend workshops and seminars, and present their research findings at the end of the program.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants who are U.S. citizens/Permanent Residents or international students who have an F-1 student visa and are currently undergraduates studying in a college or university in the United States (as long as they obtain “curricular practical training” from their current U.S. college or university) are eligible to apply.
  • International students on any other visa type are not eligible for the program.
  • Applicants should have completed some college coursework in biology and chemistry (preferably through organic chemistry). Previous laboratory experience is desirable. Students who will have graduated by the time the program begins are not eligible.
  • Applicants must submit an online application with an personal statement, transcript, and two letters of recommendation (see details below).
  • Students who have previously participated in the program are not eligible to reapply.
