University of Ghana Research Fellowship
The University of Ghana Research Fund (UGRF), administered by the Research and Innovation Directorate, supports research activities and capacity building for faculty and staff through competitive grants awarded via specific calls. Categories include Early Career grants (up to GHC10,000 for 1 year exploratory research), Mid-Career grants (up to GHC55,000 for 2 years multi-disciplinary projects), and Multi-disciplinary grants. The 16th Call for Early-Career Grants was awarded in early 2026.
Applications are submitted online via the UG Research Grant Management portal during call periods. Proposals are reviewed based on relevance, scientific merit, policy impact, resource justification, and team capability. All applicants must be full-time UG faculty, with endorsements from department heads.
Eligibility Requirements
- Full-time faculty of the University of Ghana
- For multi-disciplinary categories: completed one year of full-time service
- Collaborators from other institutions: letter of support required
- Previous recipients ineligible if ongoing projects, unsubmitted reports, or unpublished peer-reviewed findings.
