The University of Queensland Winter Research Program offers motivated UQ students a four-week research experience during the winter vacation period (29 June to 24 July 2026), providing a $2,000 grant upon successful completion. Coordinated by Student Enrichment and Success (SES) in partnership with UQ research units, participants team up with leading academics and researchers on selected projects, applying their degree-specific knowledge while developing valuable research and professional skills. This program serves as an ideal 'test-drive' for research before pursuing advanced studies, contributes to the Employability Award, and connects students to research networks, postgraduate peers, and world-class supervision.

Benefits include enhanced academic and professional capabilities for better employability, hands-on research experience, financial support via the grant, access to professional networks, and mentorship from top UQ researchers. Students engage full-time (typically 36-40 hours/week) in research activities, often requiring on-campus presence at the St Lucia campus, though some flexibility may exist depending on the project. Outcomes frequently involve skill-building in data analysis, literature review, lab techniques, presentations, and potential contributions to publications.
