UNMC Summer Undergraduate Research Program
The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) offers undergraduate students an opportunity to engage in biomedical research under the mentorship of UNMC faculty members. The program is designed to provide hands-on research experience, professional development workshops, and seminars that cover a wide range of topics in the biomedical sciences. Participants will also have the opportunity to present their research findings at the end of the program.
Each summer there are up to 100 positions available for talented undergraduate students mentored by awarded faculty.
Program dates for 2026: June 1 – August 7, 2026 (10 weeks).
Eligibility Requirements
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Freshman, sophomore, junior standing or December graduate.
- Academic minimum: 3.4 GPA.
- Completion of science courses beyond general biology or chemistry (e.g. organic chemistry, microbiology, genetics, etc.).
