VA-NC Alliance Summer Research Program for Undergraduates

United States · VirginiaUndergraduateEntry ID: PR-53628

The VA-NC Alliance Summer Research Program for Undergraduates is designed to offer students hands-on research experiences at one of the Alliance’s partner institutions. These institutions include top research universities in Virginia and North Carolina. The program focuses on providing students with meaningful exposure to scientific research in a collaborative environment while supporting students from underrepresented groups in STEM fields.

Interns work closely with faculty mentors on various research projects, gaining experience in experimental design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Research topics vary depending on the host institution and the students’ areas of interest, but they generally cover areas such as biology, engineering, computer science, environmental science, and mathematics.

In addition to research, the program includes seminars, workshops, and professional development activities to help students build skills in scientific communication, research ethics, and career development. Students also have opportunities to network with other researchers and present their findings at the conclusion of the program in a symposium or research presentation.
