Yale BioMed Amgen Scholars Program
The Yale BioMed Amgen Scholars Program is a research-intensive summer training initiative designed for undergraduate students aspiring to pursue PhD or MD-PhD degrees in the biomedical sciences. The program emphasizes diversity, encouraging applications from individuals who are first-generation college students, members of groups underrepresented in the sciences, or those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
This nine-week program offers participants hands-on research experience under the mentorship of Yale School of Medicine faculty. Students engage in independent research projects, receive training in research techniques, and participate in lab meetings, journal clubs, and other scientific activities. The program includes weekly faculty-led journal clubs, peer-mentoring forums, career development sessions focused on preparing for graduate school or MD-PhD programs, physician-scientist shadowing experiences, and networking opportunities with researchers. At the program's conclusion, students present their research at a symposium attended by faculty, trainees, and family members.
