The BW Scholarship (Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM) supports international exchange for highly qualified students between the University of Freiburg and its partner universities worldwide, funded by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation. This "Incoming" track supports students from partner universities who spend one or two semesters at Freiburg as part of the university-wide "Freiburg Global Exchange" programme. Bachelor's and Master's exchange students receive €800 per month, and doctoral exchange students receive €1,000 per month, for a maximum of nine months depending on the semester(s) abroad. Students from partner universities in South Africa and Ghana receive €1,000 per month under a special Regional Development Policy Component (REK).
Eligibility Requirements
- Officially nominated by the home university for a place in the "Freiburg Global Exchange" university-wide exchange partnership.
- Enrolled for one or two semesters as an exchange student at the University of Freiburg (not a degree-seeking student).
- Not participating in an ERASMUS+ exchange or a joint/double degree programme.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or doctoral level (doctoral exchange students receive the higher stipend rate).
