The British Academy International Fellowship ("International Fellowships 2027" round) aims to support outstanding early career researchers from outside the UK to undertake research in the UK, jointly run by the British Academy and the Royal Society, targeting a globally connected and mobile research and innovation workforce. Awards last 24 months at 80% FEC, with up to £12,000 in research expenses and up to £8,000 in relocation costs. Earliest start date for this round is 1 October 2026.
Eligibility Requirements
- Have a PhD, or be in the final stages of a PhD with completion (including viva) confirmed before the Final Awards Committee meets (1 June 2027 for this round).
- No more than five years of active full-time postdoctoral experience at the time of application (career breaks discounted).
- Be working outside the UK and not hold UK citizenship.
- Be competent in oral and written English.
- Have a clearly defined and mutually beneficial research proposal agreed with a UK host researcher.
