The Amgen Scholars Program at Caltech is a prestigious and fully-funded residential program that offers undergraduates the opportunity to engage in hands-on research in the fields of biology, chemistry, and biotechnology. Participants are matched with a faculty mentor to work on a research project for a 10-week period. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive research experience, including professional development workshops, seminars, and social activities. The summer culminates with a research symposium where students present their findings. The 2026 stipend is $6,000 for the ten-week period, plus a $610 dining card, campus housing, and travel to and from Pasadena; the 2026 program dates are June 15-August 21, 2026.
Eligibility Requirements
- U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or students with DACA status
- Undergraduates enrolled in accredited four-year colleges or universities in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or other U.S. territories
- Sophomores, juniors, or non-graduating seniors returning in the fall to continue undergraduate studies
- A cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above
- Interest in pursuing a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.
