Canary Center at Stanford Cancer Early Detection Program (Canary CREST)
The Canary Center at Stanford Cancer Early Detection Program (Canary CREST) is a highly competitive summer research internship designed to provide undergraduate students with hands-on experience in cancer research, particularly in the early detection of cancer. Hosted by the Canary Center at Stanford for Cancer Early Detection, this program offers students the opportunity to work with leading scientists and researchers in a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to developing and improving methods for the early detection of cancer.
Participants in the Canary CREST program are immersed in cutting-edge research projects that may involve areas such as molecular biology, imaging, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, and nanotechnology, all aimed at improving the early detection of cancer. Students work under the mentorship of Stanford faculty members and research scientists, gaining valuable experience in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and research methodologies.
In addition to laboratory research, the program includes seminars, workshops, and other educational activities that cover topics such as scientific communication, research ethics, and career development in the biomedical sciences. Students also have the opportunity to present their research findings at the end of the program during a symposium attended by peers, faculty, and other members of the Stanford research community. The Canary CREST program provides a stipend to support students during their summer research experience.
