The CERN Summer Student Programme offers bachelor's and master's students in physics, computing, engineering, and mathematics a unique opportunity to work with research teams at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. Participants join day-to-day experimental work, attend specialized lectures on particle physics and computing by leading scientists, visit accelerators and experimental areas, and engage in workshops, discussion sessions, and a poster session. Students complete a short report on their project at the end. The programme lasts 8 to 13 weeks in summer, fostering a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment with lasting professional networks.
Eligibility Requirements
- By summer start, pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree (not PhD) in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics; completed at least 6 semesters (3 years) of full-time studies
- Remain enrolled as full-time student at least until programme start
- No prior CERN work >3 months or previous participation in Summer Student Programme
- Good knowledge of English
