EPFL Summer Research Program
The EPFL School of Life Sciences Summer Research Program (SRP) offers international bachelor and first-year master’s students in life sciences an eight-week lab immersion experience at the EPFL campus in Lausanne, Switzerland. Participants join ongoing research projects in cutting-edge labs focusing on biology, biophysics, chemistry, bioengineering, bioinformatics, quantitative biology, and related fields addressing current health issues. The program emphasizes hands-on learning of new techniques, improving critical thinking and experimental design, while providing insight into research careers. Selected students receive a stipend of CHF 3,600 to cover housing and living costs, with additional travel reimbursement up to CHF 1,000 for overseas flights.
Mentoring is provided by faculty and scientific staff, complemented by access to scientific seminars, Friday afternoon workshops on science and personal development, and a closing symposium featuring poster sessions or presentations by all participants. Social activities enrich the experience, including a day hike to the Swiss Alps with raclette, BBQs, and excursions such as to CERN. Housing in single rooms with shared facilities is arranged near campus, fostering a supportive community among the 20-25 participants each summer. The full-time program requires presence from July 3rd to August 27th, 2026, for the most recent cycle.
