Established in 2010, the McKenzie Postdoctoral Fellowships scheme is the University of Melbourne’s flagship postdoctoral development program. The standard term of the Fellowship is three years, and the salary commences at Level A6 (approximately $110,000 per annum) plus superannuation. Successful applicants are also awarded $25,000 research project funding. It is a research Fellowship: no teaching is expected or permitted.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must have been awarded a PhD from a university other than the University of Melbourne within the last three years. Exceptions for this period may be considered for applicants with career interruptions.
  • Candidates must not have held or currently hold a fixed-term or continuing academic appointment at the University of Melbourne that extends more than one year from the fellowship's application deadline.
  • The proposed research project should be innovative and align with the strategic research priorities of Melbourne Law School.
