MSTP Undergraduate Summer Program
The MSTP Undergraduate Summer Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is designed to provide undergraduate students with a comprehensive research experience in the biomedical sciences, with a focus on preparing them for a career as a physician-scientist. The program offers students the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects under the mentorship of faculty members who are part of the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP).
Participants in the program engage in full-time research, developing technical skills in areas such as molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and neuroscience. In addition to hands-on research, students participate in seminars, workshops, and professional development activities that cover topics such as research ethics, scientific communication, and the application process for MD/PhD programs.
The MSTP Undergraduate Summer Program also includes opportunities for networking with current MD/PhD students, faculty, and other researchers. The program typically culminates in a research symposium where participants present their findings to their peers, faculty, and other members of the academic community.
