Tufts Summer Scholars Program
The Tufts Summer Scholars Program is an intensive research program designed to provide undergraduate students at Tufts University with the opportunity to engage in original research under the mentorship of Tufts faculty. The program is open to students from all academic disciplines and encourages the pursuit of research that contributes to the body of knowledge in a given field. Whether in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, or engineering, students are invited to develop and explore their research questions in depth.
The Tufts Summer Scholars Program provides students with a stipend to support their living expenses during the summer, allowing them to focus entirely on their research without the need to seek additional employment. In addition to financial support, the program offers a collaborative environment where students can share their progress, challenges, and insights with peers and mentors through seminars, workshops, and presentations.
Students in the program are expected to dedicate full-time effort to their research projects over the course of 10 weeks. The research culminates in a final presentation or report, and many Summer Scholars go on to present their work at academic conferences or publish their findings. The program is particularly valuable for students considering graduate school, as it provides a solid foundation in research methodology, critical thinking, and scholarly communication.
