The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships program is no longer accepting applications. Vanier's own page states: "We are no longer accepting applications for the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships. Please refer to the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship - Doctoral program web page for information regarding the new harmonized program." That successor, the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Doctoral (CGRS D), is part of the new Canada Research Training Awards Suite (CRTAS) jointly administered by CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC, replacing the Vanier CGS, the CIHR Doctoral Award, the NSERC PGS D, and the SSHRC Doctoral Award.

  • Can apply to only one CRTAS program per academic year (through CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC).
  • Maximum of three applications to the CGRS D program.
  • Must not have already received a doctoral-level scholarship from CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC (including a former Vanier CGS award).
