National University of Singapore (NUS) Global Merit Scholarship
The NUS Global Merit Scholarship is a prestigious university-level award offered to outstanding Singapore Citizen freshmen pursuing full-time undergraduate degrees at the National University of Singapore (excluding Dentistry, Medicine, and Music). It recognizes academic excellence, strong leadership potential, and a good co-curricular activities record. The scholarship is tenable for the normal candidature period of the student's program and is bond-free. Recipients are expected to contribute to the NUS community and develop into global leaders capable of positive societal impact.
Benefits include subsidized tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant), an annual living allowance of S$6,000, a one-time computer allowance of S$2,000, and an annual accommodation allowance ranging from S$5,550 (Halls) to S$7,350 (NUSC Residences or Valour House). Additional perks encompass Student Exchange Programme/NUS Overseas Colleges allowances (S$7,500 for non-Asian countries/Japan, S$5,000 for other Asian countries, max two claims), guaranteed one-semester SEP placement, priority on-campus housing for the first two years, and priority access to Residential College Programmes.
The scholarship renews each semester upon maintaining a minimum GPA of 4.0 (or top 35% of cohort for Law) and good conduct. Concurrent holding of other awards requires University approval, and premature termination may incur repayment obligations. Applications are assessed via admission application strength, supporting documents, referee reports, and potential interviews, with outcomes by late May.
