Peking University Yenching Academy Fellowship
The Yenching Academy of Peking University offers a fully funded two-year interdisciplinary Master's program in China Studies, bringing together outstanding international and Chinese students to cultivate global leaders with deep understanding of China. Scholars select from six research areas: Economics & Management, History & Archaeology, Philosophy & Religion, Politics & International Relations, Law & Society, and Literature & Culture. The program includes compulsory core courses such as China in Transition, field study trips, academic writing, and Chinese language courses (unless waived), alongside elective courses tailored to individual study paths. All scholars complete at least 31-34 credits and a Master's thesis with oral defense, earning degrees like Master of Arts/Law/Economics in China Studies depending on their concentration.
The Yenching Fellowship covers full tuition fees, on-campus accommodation in the first year (with support or stipend in the second year for those remaining in Beijing), a monthly living stipend, one round-trip travel allowance from the scholar's base city to Beijing, basic medical insurance, and funding for designated field studies and research trips. Approximately 120 scholars are admitted annually, with 75% international students. First-year residence is mandatory on campus to foster a vibrant scholarly community.
