The Schwarzman Scholars Program is a fully-funded, one-year Master's degree in Global Affairs at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. It selects up to 200 outstanding individuals annually to develop leadership skills through a rigorous curriculum focused on three pillars: Leadership, Global Affairs, and China. The program includes core and elective courses, a capstone project, Deep Dive field trips across China, leadership workshops, mentorship from world-class faculty and guest speakers, student life activities, and cultural immersion. Scholars live together in modern facilities on campus, building a global network to bridge China and the rest of the world. All classes are taught in English.

The comprehensive scholarship covers tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip airfare to Beijing, in-country study tours and excursions, books and supplies, a laptop and smartphone, health insurance, and a stipend for personal expenses. The program lasts one academic year, beginning in August, and emphasizes practical leadership development for careers in policy, business, and international relations amid China's global rise.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age: At least 18 but not yet 29 years old as of August 1 of the enrollment year (e.g., August 1, 2026 for Class of 2026-2027).
  • Academic: Must hold a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) conferred by August 1 of the enrollment year; current undergraduates must be on track to graduate by then. All undergraduate fields welcome.
  • English Proficiency (if not native): TOEFL 100+, IELTS 7.0+, Cambridge C1/C2 185+, Duolingo 130+; waived for 2+ years of English-medium undergraduate or graduate study.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, empathy, intercultural competency, open-mindedness, and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Open to all nationalities; applicants with passports from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan use separate China application system.
