The PROMOS Scholarship Program, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), supports University of Bonn students in undertaking self-organized, study-related stays abroad lasting up to six months. The program aims to enhance the mobility of German university students by providing financial assistance for various international academic activities.
Eligibility Requirements
- Enrollment Status: Applicants must be enrolled at the University of Bonn as students or doctoral candidates at the time of application and throughout the planned stay abroad. Exceptions apply for certain funding lines, such as internships.
- Academic Standing:
- Bachelor’s and state examination students must have completed at least one program-related semester.
- Master’s students can apply at any time during their studies.
- Doctoral candidates are eligible to apply for funding lines such as language courses or subject-related courses (e.g., summer/winter schools).
- Academic Performance: Applicants should demonstrate good to very good academic performance.
- Language Proficiency: Proof of at least B1-level proficiency in the language of instruction or workplace is required, with certificates no older than three years. This requirement is waived for language course funding lines.
- Nationality Restrictions: Non-German nationals pursuing a degree at the University of Bonn can apply for projects outside their home country, defined as the country where they have resided predominantly over the past five years.
