The Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) is one of Villa Albertine's longest-running and most sought-after programs. Each year, TAPIF places around 1,200 Americans into French public schools to work as English language teaching assistants for up to 12 hours a week, for a seven-month contract from October 1 to April 30. TAPIF works with France Éducation international (FEI) to place language assistants in classrooms of all ages across metropolitan France and the overseas departments (French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte, and La Réunion). Contracts can be renewed, and participants may take part up to three times.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be an American citizen or permanent resident
  • Must be a native English speaker
  • Must be between 20 and 35 years old
  • Must have completed at least three years of higher education by the start date of the program
  • Demonstrated proficiency in French (intermediate level or higher recommended)
  • Completion of the TAPIF application form and submission of required supporting documents, such as academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement
