The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program is no longer accepting applications. Its own page states: "We are no longer accepting applications for the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program. Please refer to the Canada Postdoctoral Research Award program web page for information regarding the new harmonized program." That successor, the Canada Postdoctoral Research Award (CPRA), is part of the new Canada Research Training Awards Suite (CRTAS) jointly administered by CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC, alongside the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Master's (CGRS M) and Doctoral (CGRS D) programs.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must hold or expect to hold a doctoral or health professional degree before the start date of the award.
- Must not hold, or be on leave from, a tenure-track or tenured faculty position.
- Must have completed all doctoral/health professional degree requirements no more than three years before 1 September of the application year (extensions available for career interruptions, relevant industry/government employment, or new-parent caregiving).
- Not intended for students completing a degree or related internship.
