Established in 1974, the Luce Scholars Program is a competitive leadership development fellowship that provides emerging leaders with immersive, yearlong professional placements throughout Northeast, Southeast, and South Asia. Scholars work in fields such as public health, the arts, economic development, and environmental science at NGOs, government agencies, private companies, universities, think tanks, and museums, paired with mentors and language training to build cross-cultural understanding and leadership skills.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- May be a graduating senior, recent graduate, or young professional under age 33 at the time of departure for Asia, having earned at least a bachelor's degree before the Program starts.
- Applicants with 6+ consecutive months or more than 1 cumulative year of residence within the past 5 years in only one Luce placement country may still apply but will not be placed in that country.
- Applicants with that much time in more than one Luce placement country within the past 5 years are not eligible.
