National Taiwan University Summer Research Program
The National Taiwan University Summer Research Program, specifically the 2026 Summer+ Intensive Research Program (also referred to as Summer+ R4), is an 8-week non-credit intensive research opportunity for international students. Participants engage in hands-on research in state-of-the-art laboratories across various NTU colleges, including Science, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Engineering, Bio-Resources and Agriculture, Life Science, Public Health, Medicine, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Management, and Law. Students work alongside NTU professors on ongoing or new research projects of mutual interest, collaborating with graduate students and other participants. The program runs from June 22 to August 14, 2026, and includes a mandatory Lab Safety Precaution Lecture during orientation. Participants are expected to complete assigned projects and deliver a final presentation. Upon successful completion, students receive a letter-grade academic transcript and certificate. The program also facilitates cultural immersion through daily interactions with locals and provides an authentic experience of Taiwanese college life. Accommodation is not included, but off-campus options are available.
This program emphasizes professional networking, research skill development, and insight into the research process at a world-class institution. Students select up to three preferred faculty members from the provided Faculty List based on their interests, with freshmen and sophomores requiring prior professor approval. The application process involves submitting transcripts, a statement of purpose, recommendation letter, passport copy, and photo via the online portal after paying a USD 200 non-refundable fee. Results are reviewed post-submission, followed by program fee payment and admission formalities. No credits are awarded, but transcripts can be used for home institution evaluation.
