The Mary Lister McCammon Summer Research Fellowship offers female university students a funded opportunity to spend the summer before their final year working on a research project with a leading mathematician or statistician. This fellowship aims to provide a real-world research experience, similar to that of a PhD student, and is intended to encourage more women to consider careers in mathematical sciences and research. The 2026 fellowship is a 10-week program starting 29 June 2026, with a stipend of £460/week, supervised by mentors at Imperial and UCL.
Eligibility Requirements
- Woman currently in the third year of an undergraduate degree in AY 2025-2026, planning to go on to a Master's degree (integrated or stand-alone) in AY 2026-2027
- Degree in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related subject (e.g. physics, computer science)
- Interested in exploring a PhD in mathematics or statistics
- On track for at least upper second class honours, with a strong preference for candidates on track for a first class degree
- Must meet one of: (1) Imperial College London undergraduate (including international students), (2) undergraduate at another UK university, any nationality (subject to visa requirements), or (3) undergraduate at an overseas institution who is a UK/Ireland national or holds EU Settlement Scheme (pre-settled/settled) status and remains registered at their home institution throughout
