The UCLA Public Health Scholars Training Program is an eight-week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with an immersive experience in public health. Scholars will engage in hands-on public health research and practice with partnering organizations in Los Angeles. The program includes mentorship from UCLA faculty, professional development workshops, field trips, and networking opportunities. Scholars will gain a comprehensive understanding of public health principles and practices, preparing them for future careers in the field

2026 program dates: June 21 – August 15, 2026 (8 weeks).

Eligibility Requirements

  • Interest in exploring a career in public health.
  • Must be enrolled in a four-year institution and have completed at least two years of undergraduate education OR be a recent college graduate (Fall/Winter 2021 or Spring 2022) not accepted into a graduate program.
  • Willingness to attend social and volunteer events on evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Willingness to stay engaged with the program for alumni tracking, professional development opportunities, maintaining contact with the cohort, and participating in recruitment for the 2022 cohort.
