The Belgian Government ARES Scholarships, offered by the Académie de Recherche et d'Enseignement supérieur (ARES), provide up to 200 fully funded opportunities for the 2026-2027 academic year. These scholarships target professionals from 31 developing partner countries, allowing them to pursue one-year advanced bachelor's or specialized master's degree programs or 2-to-6 month continuing education courses at prestigious institutions within the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, such as ULB, UCLouvain, ULiège, UNamur, EPHEC, HE Vinci, and ESA Saint-Luc Bruxelles. Comprehensive coverage includes economy-class international travel (one per year), a monthly living allowance (€1150 for degrees), tuition and registration fees (for degrees), €700 arrival/return allowance, full insurance, and €150 indirect mission fees for training. This support ensures recipients can dedicate themselves to advanced training without financial burdens, fostering capacity building for their home countries.

Eligibility Requirements

  • National of, reside in, and work in one of 31 eligible partner countries (Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, etc.; South America: Bolivia, etc.; Asia: Cambodia, etc.).
  • Higher education degree: 2nd cycle equivalent (300 ECTS) for masters/continuing ed; 1st cycle (180 ECTS) for advanced bachelor's.
  • At least 2 years relevant professional experience in a partner country.
  • Degree held max 20 years prior (extensions for children).
  • Under ~40 for degrees, ~45 for training; French proficiency (or course language).
