Boren Awards (Scholarships & Fellowships)

Boren Awards fund US students to study less-commonly-taught languages in world regions critical to US interests. Scholarships (undergrads) provide up to $25,000 for overseas study of at least 12 weeks (8+ weeks for STEM summer programs); Fellowships (grad students) provide up to $30,000. Language study must be a core element. In exchange, Boren awardees commit to at least one year of federal government service after graduation.
