Czech Government Scholarship for Developing Countries
The Government of the Czech Republic offers scholarships within the framework of its Foreign Development Cooperation to support studies of foreign nationals from selected developing countries at public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic. Scholarships cover the standard length of full-time study programs in selected areas, pursued in Czech (with preparatory language course) or English. Over 20,000 foreign nationals have studied with this scholarship since the 1950s.
For English programs (all eligible countries): selected follow-up Master's (2 years) and Doctoral (3-4 years) programs. For Czech programs: Bachelor's (3-4 years, Georgia only), Follow-up Master's (Bosnia/Georgia/Ukraine/Belarus), plus 1-year Czech preparatory course. Covers tuition (exempted), living costs subsidy via monthly stipend (typically CZK 14,000-15,000/month), health insurance subsidy. Entrance exams required for Czech programs; English test for English programs. Studies start in academic year 2026/2027.
Eligibility Requirements
- Citizens of eligible countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus (democratic forces), Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Jordan.
- Not citizens of Czech Republic, EU, or with permanent residence in CZ.
- For Bachelor's: completed secondary education equivalent to CZ school-leaving exam (Georgia only).
- For Master's: completed Bachelor's.
- For PhD: completed Master's.
- Pass university entrance exams (for Czech programs).
- Pass online English test (for English programs).
- Full-time standard length programs in selected areas of study.
- No legal claim to scholarship.
