The Zawadi Africa Education Fund is a leadership-development and scholarship fund for academically gifted but financially disadvantaged young African women. Founded in 2002 by Dr. Susan Mboya and inspired by the 1960s Kennedy/Mboya student airlifts, it aims to build a pipeline of young women leaders.
Eligibility Requirements
- Female student from Kenya, Ghana, or Uganda (some cohorts include South Africa)
- Completed national secondary education with high academic achievement
- From a low-income family (demonstrated financial need)
- Submit the application form, a one-page biography with photo, a set-topic essay (500–650 words), and academic/leadership certificates
