AAPD Summer Internship Program
The AAPD Summer Internship Program provides undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities, as well as recent graduates, the opportunity to gain practical work experience in Washington, D.C. and other locations. The program aims to build leadership skills and enhance the career development of participants by placing them in high-impact roles in federal agencies, non-profit organizations, private companies, and congressional offices.
Interns are matched with placements that align with their academic background and career goals. In addition to their internship placements, participants engage in a variety of professional development activities, including mentorship, networking events, and workshops focused on disability rights, leadership, and career advancement.
One of the unique aspects of the AAPD Summer Internship Program is its emphasis on accessibility and inclusion. AAPD provides accommodations for all interns, ensuring that participants can fully engage in their work and development. The program covers the cost of travel to and from Washington, D.C., and housing for the duration of the internship. Interns also receive a stipend to help cover living expenses
