The Summer Public Health Scholars Program (SPHSP) at Columbia University Medical Center is a rigorous 10-week summer program designed to introduce undergraduate students to the field of public health. The program aims to increase interest in and knowledge of public health and biomedical science careers among students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds. Participants will gain hands-on experience through internships, attend lectures and seminars, engage in field trips, and receive mentorship from public health professionals. The program also includes academic enrichment, professional development, and networking opportunities
Eligibility Requirements
- Rising juniors and seniors who will have completed at least two years of college at an accredited institution by the start of the program
- Recent college graduates (after April 2025) not yet accepted into a graduate program
- Students with an Associate degree, with proof of acceptance into a four-year institution
- Minimum GPA of 2.7
- All students are welcomed and encouraged to apply; demographic information is not considered during review or selection
