Haas Scholars Program
The Haas Scholars Program at the University of California, Berkeley, offers a unique opportunity for twenty academically talented undergraduates with financial need to engage in a year-long, research-intensive capstone project. This program supports projects that culminate in a senior thesis, creative project, or field study, fostering an interdisciplinary community of scholars.
The Haas Scholars Program provides up to $14,800 in financial support, individualized mentoring from UC Berkeley faculty, seminars, and workshops to assist in the research and writing process. Scholars have the opportunity to present their work at a program-specific academic conference and receive assistance with graduate school and fellowship applications.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be undergraduate students at UC Berkeley expecting to graduate in Fall 2025 or Spring/Summer 2026.
- A minimum UC Berkeley GPA of 3.450 is required.
- Applicants must be eligible to receive need-based financial aid, with a Student Aid Index (SAI) of less than $26,000.
- A sincere commitment and ability to be part of an interdisciplinary senior capstone experience and build a mutually supportive cohort.
