The Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP) at the University of California, Berkeley, offers undergraduates the opportunity to collaborate with faculty members and research staff on innovative research projects across various disciplines. URAP enables students to gain hands-on research experience, develop advanced research skills, and explore academic interests by working closely with faculty mentors. Participants earn academic credit (1 unit for every 3 hours of research work per week, up to 4 units per term) instead of monetary compensation.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Open to matriculated UC Berkeley undergraduates with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
  • Concurrent enrollment students are not eligible.
  • International students applying for positions at UCSF must obtain Curricular Practical Training (CPT) approval before commencing work.
