The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Internship Program provides university students from member countries with a competitive paid opportunity to contribute to development projects while gaining professional experience at the IDB Group, including IDB, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab. Interns engage full-time (40 hours/week) for two months on real-world initiatives in fields such as economics, policy analysis, data science, climate change, urban development, and more, fostering skills in international development and finance.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Citizen of one of IDB's 48 member countries (IDB Invest: no nationality restriction; country offices: must be citizen/legal resident there with work permit)
  • Active student: undergraduate (Bachelor's, at least 2 years completed) or graduate (Master's/PhD, at least 50% coursework completed)
  • Expected graduation date after internship period ends
  • Available full-time (40 hours/week) during fixed dates; for US international students, CPT/OPT allowing full-time work
  • No family members (up to 4th degree consanguinity, 2nd affinity, including spouse) working at IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab
  • First-time participant in IDB Group internship program (no prior staff, contractor, or complementary workforce roles)
  • Submit: resume/CV, academic transcripts (official/unofficial, issued within last 3 months), university enrollment letter (within last 3 months).
