Inter-American Development Bank Internship Program
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Internship Program provides university students from member countries with a competitive paid opportunity to contribute to development projects while gaining professional experience at the IDB Group, including IDB, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab. Interns engage full-time (40 hours/week) for two months on real-world initiatives in fields such as economics, policy analysis, data science, climate change, urban development, and more, fostering skills in international development and finance.
Primarily based at headquarters in Washington, D.C. (in-person/hybrid), the program features fixed Winter (January 16–March 15) and Summer (June 16–August 15) cycles. Country office internships (2-6 months) are available year-round in Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia, requiring local citizenship or residency. IDB supports G4 visas for eligible participants and emphasizes multicultural teamwork and on-the-job learning.
Applications are submitted via the IDB careers portal, where candidates select up to three roles matching their expertise. The program is open to first-time IDB Group participants without close relatives employed there, promoting diverse academic backgrounds to support sustainable development in the region.
