The NDSEG Fellowship funds three years of doctoral study in science and engineering fields of military importance, awarded each fiscal year subject to available funding. Since the program's inception, over 4,700 fellowships have been awarded from more than 70,000 applications. Fellows are mentored by their sponsoring military service (Army, Navy, Air Force, or the newly participating Space Force) and receive full tuition and required fees, a monthly stipend, and health insurance.

Eligibility Requirements

  • U.S. citizens or nationals only -- permanent residents are not eligible.
  • Received (or will receive) a baccalaureate degree in the year of application, or within the first two years of a traditional graduate program or PhD.
  • Majoring in one of NDSEG's approved STEM disciplines (or a closely related field).
  • Must intend to pursue a doctoral degree to accept the fellowship.
