CaRMS R-1 Main Residency Match (Canada)

The CaRMS R-1 Main Residency Match is the national system that matches medical graduates to accredited postgraduate residency positions at Canadian medical schools. Applicants apply to programs through CaRMS Online and submit ranked preference lists; a matching algorithm places applicants into positions across two iterations. For the 2027 R-1 first iteration, CaRMS Online opens for applicants on 9 September 2026 at 12:00 noon ET, and the applicant application deadline is 26 November 2026 at 12:00 noon ET. International medical graduates may apply but must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and must have passed the required MCC and NAC examinations.
