Douglass-O'Connell Global Internship
The Douglass-O'Connell Global Internship is a fully-funded, transformative eight-week summer program in Dublin, Ireland, scheduled from June 13 to August 9, 2025. Co-sponsored by CIEE, Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs, and the African American Irish Diaspora Network (AAIDN), the program honors the legacies of Frederick Douglass and Daniel O’Connell by preparing students from diverse backgrounds for future career success.
This program selects 12 exceptional student leaders for an immersive internship experience in Dublin. Participants will engage in a full-time work placement aligned with their skills and career aspirations, attend lectures on Irish history and culture, and participate in extracurricular and networking activities. The internship pays tribute to Frederick Douglass' transformative visit to Ireland over 175 years ago, where he met the renowned Irish reformer Daniel O’Connell.
